Natural handmade candles – a gift from the Bitutė family

1

As far as I can remember, I could never sit still, I need to be creating, trying and discovering something unusual. I made bouquets of flowers, flower baskets, Christmas wreaths, I have even learned the art of fruit carving. After various experiences, I received unexpected news – I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The prolonged treatment precluded me from any activities. My daily life was filled with reflections on life, being with myself, reading books. When I got back to my normal job, I decided to try making candles. My first candle was born in Kaunas, when my daughter and I attended a candle making lecture. After trying the beeswax later, I immediately felt that it fascinated me. It has now been three years since I cast my first beeswax candle.

This wax is a natural product that has an amazing aroma and is made from naturally renewable resources. There is no routine in candle casting – it is pure creativity. I always have different ideas in mind to never be boring, keep updating or changing something, because we want to be exceptional. I don’t just pour candles into moulds, I also enjoy the old way of candle dipping. I use flowers and herbs for decoration. I dry them and use them to decorate candles.

We also started offering gift sets. We use beeswax-friendly products: honey and bee pollen, also called bee bread.

I express myself with candles and my creations. When people admire, praise and buy my candles and give thanks, it inspires me to keep developing and learning something new. The whole family is involved in candle creation: my husband, both daughters, sons-in-law and other relatives. When you see that you are surrounded by this group of people, where everyone helps, does their best, understands and believes in this work, it inspires to work even harder. I am very grateful to my family for being so wonderful and patient.
